FOCUS ON LIFE EXHIBITION AND AUCTION,
30TH MAY 2012
Over 200 people attended the exhibition and auction and a great time was had by all.
From the moment the idea of the project was first thought of, no one involved could have dared to dream that the night would be such a success. The Getty Images Gallery was a magnificent venue and their team did a magnificent job managing the evening, the catering by True Deli was delicious and the atmosphere was one of celebration. Jimmy the compere was great fun, the auctioneer Scott from Sotherbys, did a brilliant job and never paused for breath in 90 minutes! Our biggest thanks however must go to the 53 photographers who donated such a fantastic collection of photographs - all beautifully framed by Genesis Imaging - they were quite exceptional and generated real excitement amongst the bidders.
An incredible £10,125.60 was raised for the Howard Kerr PHD Studenship at Barts Hospital to help find ways to detect pancreatic cancer at an early stage via proteins in the body.
"In terms of fundraising, it has given us a fantastic springboard for this year. As an event, many have commented to me how well done, catered, and organised it was. The quality of the photographs was phenomenal. On behalf of the Howards Way Walk - I can't thank you all enough - if only all fundraising was as much fun as this!"
Nick Grecian, Gallowglass – Howard's Way Walk Founder
"Thanks for a fabulous evening. It was brilliantly organised and executed and I am delighted that you raised so much money for pancreatic cancer research. My heartiest congratulations."
John Marshall, Centre for Tumour Biology, Barts Cancer Institute - a Cancer Research UK Centre of Excellence
"Howard was an inspiration to us all on the first walk and his desire to raise awareness and funds lives on through these events. I'd like to thank the photographers who donated work, the sponsors who gave so generously and the enthusiastic bidders on the night who made it such a success. I'm delighted that we raised so much money and I'm already inundated with requests for a bigger and better event next year. So thank you to all who contributed to such a great cause, the monies raised really will make a difference to the research at Barts and I look forward to contacting you all again for Focus on Life 2 in 2013!"
